Author of books on operas of Verdi (1969), Mozart (1978), Puccini (1982), Strauss (1988), Wagner (1990), and bel canto composers (1994); ed. of coll. of Verdi's letters (1971), The Dictionary of Composers (1977), and Dictionary of Opera (1983).
