Rokseth, Yvonne (née Rihouët)
Rokseth, Yvonne (née Rihouët) , eminent French musicologist; b. Maisons-Laffitte, near Paris, July 17, 1890; d. Strasbourg, Aug. 23, 1948. She studied at the Paris Cons., with d’Indy and Roussel at the Schola Cantorum, and with Pirro at the Sorbonne, receiving her doctorat es lettres in 1930 with the diss. La Musique d’orgue au XVe siècle et au début du XVIe (publ. in Paris, 1930). She was a librarian at the Cons. and the Bibliothèque Nationale (1934–37); then was made maître de conférences at the Univ. of Strasbourg (1937); after serving in the Resistance during World War II, she rejoined its faculty as prof. of musicology. She ed. the valuable Polyphonies du XIIIe siècle: Le Manuscrit H196 de la Faculté de médecine de Montpellier (4 vols., Paris, 1935–39); also publ. a biography of Grieg (Paris, 1933) and other vols.
