Soproni, József

Soproni, József, Hungarian composer and pedagogue; b. Sopron, Oct. 4, 1930. He studied with Viski at the Budapest Academy of Music (1949–56). In 1957 he became a teacher at the Béla Bartók School in Budapest. In 1962 he joined the faculty of the Budapest Academy of Music, where he was a prof. from 1977. From 1988 to 1994 he served as its rector.
