Warren, Raymond (Henry Charles)

Warren, Raymond (Henry Charles), English composer and teacher; b. Weston-super-Mare, Nov. 7, 1928. He studied with Robin Orr at Corpus Christi Coll., Cambridge (1949-52; M.A., 1952), continuing his education at the Univ. of Cambridge (M.A., 1955; Mus.D., 1967); he also was a student of Tippett (1952-54) and Berkeley (1958). In 1955 he became a teacher at Queen’s Univ. in Belfast, where he was a prof, from 1966 to 1972. From 1972 to 1994 he was a prof, at the Univ. of Bristol. He publ. Opera Workshops: Studies in Understanding and Interpretation (Brookfield, 1995).
