The books Welcome to Camp Creeps and The Mysterious Treasure of the Slimy Sea Cave, written by Rod Randall and published by Broadman & Holman in 1998 and 1999 respectively, were based on ideas by Randall and Buchanan.
SIDELIGHTS:
Paul Buchanan once commented: "While a student in the graduate writing program at the University of Southern California, I met Ben Masselink, who became my good friend and mentor. Masselink, who also wrote extensively for television, published several young adult novels. Under his influence I began experimenting with children's literature. I sold my first children's novels while I was a student in that program.
"While publishing children's novels, I also studied children's literature as an academic specialty and now teach that subject (and creative writing) at Biola University.
"In my work, and in my reading, I am especially interested in how matters of faith and moral reasoning influence the lives of characters. Adele Griffin, author of Sons of Liberty and Split Just Right, is my hero."
