PERSONAL: Born January 23, 1900, in Louvain, Belgium; died June 4, 1960, in Brussels, Belgium; married Lou Cosyn. Education: Attended University of Brussels.

CAREER: Photographer and writer. Founded periodical Correspondences, 1924, with Paul Nougé and Marcel Lecomte. Military service: Belgian army, 1940; attained rank of lieutenant.

SIDELIGHTS: In 1926 Camille Goemans was among several young Belgians, including the noted artist René Magritte, who founded the Belgian Surrealist art group. Goemans was a chronicler of Magritte's work in catalogs and books, such as, Grand comme une image: Avec un dessin de René Magritte.
