SIDELIGHTS: Robin Gold works in independent film production in New York City. Her experience ranges from acting in the movie My Ex-Girlfriend’s Wedding Reception to her role as associate producer in the film Romance & Cigarettes. This film put her in the company of director John Turturro and a celebrated cast, including Susan Sarandon, James Gandolfini, Kate Winslet, and Christopher Walken.
Gold made her publishing debut in the chick-lit genre with The Perfectly True Tales of a Perfect Size 12. The creative Delilah White finds herself in competition with Margo, a rival coworker, for a promotion on their lifestyle television show. Because Delilah is confident she will get the job based on merit, she takes a vacation in the Catskills to relax. Margo follows and complicates matters by trying to steal Delilah’s new love interest. A reviewer in Publishers Weekly called the book an “affable debut.” A critic writing in Kirkus Reviews found the book to contain “a memorable character stuck in a forgettable story.” Patty Engel-mann, writing in Booklist, described the story as “fun and uplifting” and noted that the party at the conclusion of the book is “one of fiction’s most hilarious and outrageous.”
