SIDELIGHTS: Evelyn L. Kooperman told CA: "In 1986 a local radio station contacted the San Diego Public Library, where I work, asking the librarians to submit seventy-five San Diego trivia questions that would be aired over the radio. I am a native San Diegan and have always been interested in local history, so I went to work and came up with 172 questions. Each one led to another, and the result was so addicting that I couldn't stop. I turned up so many tidbits about San Diego that I thought others would enjoy sharing the fun. I continued the research for another two years, adding over 600 more questions and expanding those I already had, and finally I had enough for a book. I was surprised and delighted that San Diego Trivia was a best-selling local book when it came out.

"Three years later a local game company asked if they could use my questions for a trivia game. For that I had to come up with hundreds of new questions. The work was completed in 1991 and was proclaimed by the mayor to be the 'Official Game of the City of San Diego.' After more research on each question I had enough material for a second book, San Diego Trivia 2."
