LITTLE, Eddie 1955(?)-2003
OBITUARY NOTICE—See index for CA sketch: Born c. 1955, in Los Angeles, CA; died of a heart attack May 20, 2003, in Los Angeles, CA. Author. Little led a troubled life of drug addiction and crime that he mined for his 1998 novel Another Day in Paradise. Abused by his father as a child, he ran away at the age of twelve and started taking drugs and learning how to survive on the street. His rap sheet included convictions for drug possession, assault, fraud, and robbery. Nevertheless, he loved to read and write, and he turned his personal experiences into a fictionalized account of a young man surviving life in the underground world of Los Angeles. The popular book was made into a movie starring Melanie Griffith and James Woods. This success led to his being hired as a columnist for L.A. Weekly, for which he wrote the column "Outlaw L.A." His second book, Steel Toes, was published in 2001.
