PERSONAL: Born January 14, 1925, in Kuopio, Finland; died February 22, 1992, in Helsinki, Finland; son of Armas and Aune (Hamalainen) Ruusuvuori; married Anna Maria E. Jäämeri, 1970; children: Eva, Anu. Education: Technical University, Helsinki, Finland, diploma, 1951.

CAREER: Architect in private practice, Helsinki, Finland, 1952-92. Technical University, Helsinki, assistant, 1952-59, acting professor, 1959-63, professor of architecture, 1963-66; appointed state professor of art, 1978-83. International Council of Monuments and Sites, member of Finnish national committee, beginning 1967, committee chair, 1967-70; Museum of Finnish Architecture, member of administrative board, 1969-83, director, 1975-78, 1983-88; member of jury for international and national competitions. Architecture represented in exhibitions around the world, including U.S. tour of Finnish architecture, 1955. Military service: Finnish Army, 1943-45.


MEMBER: Finnish Architects' Association (founding member; member of administrative board, 1961-62; president, 1982), Finnish Association of Arts and Crafts (member of administrative council, 1961-88), Finnish Friends of Architecture (chair, 1967-76), Architectguild (honorary member), American Institute of Architects (fellow).
