SIDELIGHTS:

Beth Schoenfeldt is an entrepreneur. She initially earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Texas A&M University and entered the corporate world. Feeling as if something was not right, she returned to school, completing an M.B.A. from Columbia University. After returning to the corporate world, the same feeling haunted her. Reminiscing about her start as an entrepreneur on the Ladies Who Launch Web log, Schoenfeldt recalled that "while I learned a lot and was lucky to have some great mentors, ultimately I saw the corporate path as frustrating and anti-creative." She subsequently started FLOinc, a company to promote women in business roles. In an interview in Gothamist, Schoenfeldt said of her pro women-in-business stance that "creativity and motivation are contagious, so if you get women moving forward in their lives toward their dreams and desires then others follow along … it just takes one to take the leap. We now have hundreds of women in NY in the FLO Incubator, it is a movement." Schoenfeldt later founded Ladies Who Launch, with Victoria Colligan.

Schoenfeldt published her first book, Ladies Who Launch: Embracing Entrepreneurship & Creativity as a Lifestyle, in 2007 with Victoria Colligan and Amy Swift. The account details the approach and methods used by the company to promote women and help them to be successful in the business world as entrepreneurs.
