Patricia Anne Sleem told CA: "My primary motivation for writing is to make a living through utilizing a God-given talent which I have refined through years of painstaking craftsmanship. I am fortunate to be able to write in a variety of genres. I write technical and informative books related to careers and business under the pen name Anne McKinney, and I write fiction under the name Patty Sleem. I have been drawn to write fiction that explores issues related to spirituality and the meaning of life, and I am drawn to characters who do not 'fit' into their environments because of the lack of authenticity of others. I think people reach their greatest heights and achieve their greatest successes when they are forced to operate outside their normal 'comfort zone,' and fiction provides a way to observe how people behave when they are required to operate outside their natural habitat."
