American singer. Name variations: Sister Sledge. Born 1958 in Philadelphia, PA; sister of Debra, Joni and Kathy Sledge (all singers); graduate of Temple University.
With sisters, formed the pop and R&B group, Sister Sledge (late 1950s) and released the hit album, We Are Family (1979), which contained the hits "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "We Are Family."
