ITU
ITU Abbrev. for International Telecommunication Union. An agency of the United Nations responsible for international standards concerning telephone and data-transfer systems. In 1992 it was reorganized into three sectors covering radiocommunication, telecommunication standardization, and telecommunication development. The Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-TSS or ITU-T) took over the responsibilities of the CCITT.
