Pomerance, Ralph

Pomerance, Ralph (1907–95). American architect. He founded his NYC practice in 1933 and was responsible for a great number of buildings, including several much-admired houses in the International Modernist style (e.g. his own house at Cos Cob, CT (1940). With Markelius, he was responsible for the Swedish Pavilion at the New York World's Fair (1939) in collaboration with Markelius. A single-storey house at Croton-on-Hudson, NYC (1940–1), received acclaim housing-authority schemes at Greenwich, NYC.
