Pomatomidae
Pomatomidae (bluefish, tailor; subclass Actinopterygii, order Perciformes) A monospecific family (Pomatomus saltator) comprising an elongate and streamlined marine fish, 1.1 m long, that has a large mouth, short first dorsal fin, and longbased second dorsal and anal fins. It is a voracious predator, living in large schools in offshore waters, although it may come close to shore when following schools of prey fish. It is distributed world-wide in tropical waters.
