AALL Scholarships for Continuing Education Classes (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to individuals who wish to pursue courses related to law librarianship. Focus: Library and archival sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be law librarians with a degree from an ALA-accredited library school or an ABA-accredited law school, who are registered in continuing education courses related to law librarianship. Applicants must also be AALL members. Criteria: Applicants who are permanent residents of United States and Canada will be given preference.

AALL Scholarships for Library School Graduates Seeking a Non-Law Degree (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist individuals who wish to develop a professional career in law librarianship and who intend to have a career as a law librarian. Focus: Library and archival sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be library school graduates who are degree candidates in an area other than law. Scholarship is restricted to members of AALL. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the application packet and financial need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicant must submit an application form; transcript of records; letters of recommendation; and a personal statement. Deadline: April 1.

AALL & Thomson West - George A. Strait Minority Scholarship Endowment (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of minority students who wish to pursue their career goals in law librarianship. Focus: Library and archival sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be college graduates with meaningful law library experience; members of a minority group as defined by current U.S. Government guidelines; degree candidates in an ALA-accredited library school or an ABA-accredited law school; intend to have a career in law librarianship; must have at least one quarter/semester remaining after the scholarship is awarded. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the application materials submitted.

Qualif.: Applicant must be a law school graduate working towards a degree in an accredited library school or a college graduate with meaningful law library experience and a degree candidate in an accredited library school. Applicant must have the intention of having a career as a law librarian. Criteria: Applicants who are law school graduates with meaningful library experience or college graduates working for degrees with emphasis on courses in law are given preference.

James F. Connolly LexisNexis Academic & Library Solutions Scholarships (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to individuals who wish to pursue a career related to law librarianship. Focus: Library and archival sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be law school graduates with law library experience; pursuing a degree in an accredited law school with the intention of having a career in law librarianship; must have no more than 36 semester (54 quarter) credit hours remaining before qualifying for the degree. Criteria: Applicants who have demonstrated an interest in government documents will be given preference.
