Community Environment: The oldest permanent settlement in New Hampshire, Dover was founded in 1623 by fishermen and traders. Primarily a manufacturing center, industries produce electrical and electronic equipment, shoes, machinery and sporting goods. Part-time jobs are available. Trains and buses are convenient; airlines service nearby Portsmouth, and Dover does enjoy all the cultural and recreational advantages of that city.
