Michigan Stormwater-Floodplain Association Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote the common interest in floodplain and stormwater management; enhance cooperation among various local, state, and federal governmental agencies; encourage effective and innovative approaches to managing the state's floodplain and stormwater management systems; to mitigate the losses, costs, and human suffering caused by flooding and to promote wise use of the natural and beneficial functions of floodplains. Focus: Water supply industry. Qualif.: Applicants must be full-time juniors, seniors, or graduate students in biosystems, civil, or environmental engineering with a specialization related to the mission and goals of the MSFA. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form; a copy of their program of study showing courses remaining and photocopy of their transcript; a current resume that includes a statement of their career objectives and graduation date; a one page, typed essay highlighting their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, past and present work experiences, future occupation and commitment to the mission and goals of the MSFA; must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member of their department.
