Boycott, Geoffrey

Boycott, Geoffrey (1940– ) English cricketer. He was captain of Yorkshire (1971–79). In 1971, Boycott became the first English batsman to average more than 100 runs in a first-class season. He played in 108 tests. His 8114 test runs for England is surpassed only by Graham Gooch and David Gower. In 1982 he was banned from test cricket after touring South Africa. Boycott is now a sports commentator for television.
