Popović, Milentije
Milentije Popović (mēlĕn´tēyə pō´pōvĬ´tyə), 1913–71, Yugoslav politician. Active in the Communist student movement, he became a member of the Yugoslav Communist party in 1939. He joined the partisans of Josip Broz Tito in Oct., 1941. After Yugoslavia's liberation, Popović held various ministerial positions. In 1953 he became a member of the federal executive council and from 1958 he was chairman of the federal council of education. A member of the presidium of the Yugoslav Communist party, Popović served as chairman of the federal parliament from 1967 until his death.
