Matthā ṭekṇā

Matthā ṭekṇā (Pañjābī, ‘to bow the forehead’). Upon entering the gurdwārā, Sikhs kneel before the Ādi Granth, touching the floor with their foreheads as a sign of respect to it as Gurū. This is also the custom when greeting an elderly relative.
