Seven Virtues
Seven Virtues. In Christian tradition: faith, hope, charity, prudence, temperance, fortitude, justice. The first three are the ‘theological virtues’, grouped together by Paul in 1 Corinthians 13. 13. The last four are the ‘cardinal virtues’, a classification taken over by the chief Christian moral theologians, e.g. Ambrose, Augustine, and Thomas Aquinas, from Plato and Aristotle.
