WILLAIK, ST.
Benedictine abbot; d. c. 725. Willaik, whose country of origin is uncertain, was a fellow worker of swithbert, whom he succeeded in 713 as abbot of Kaiserswerth. His relics were rediscovered in 1626 in Swithbert's shrine at Kaiserswerth. His head, however, has been preserved in St. Lambert's in Düsseldorf since 1403.
Feast: March 7 or 8.
