Bignoniaceae A family of mainly woody climbers in which the leaves are pinnate and opposite. The flowers are showy, borne in cymose clusters, zygomorphic, and pentamerous, with fused sepals and petals, and with the ovary superior. The fruit is usually a capsule with numerous small, winged seeds. There are 112 genera with 225 species, most occurring in tropical central and S. America.
