glial cell
glial cell A type of cell that occurs in vast numbers in the central nervous system, surrounding and separating neurones and their processes. Apparently, the role of glial cells is to act as mediators of normal neuronal metabolism and/or as insulators between neurones to prevent unwanted interactions. They may also be involved in the regeneration of damaged neurones.
