Langhian
1. That interval in the Miocene Epoch, dated at 16.3–14.2 Ma ( Harland et al., 1989) which is preceded by the Burdigalian and followed by the Serravallian Ages. Most authors subdivide the Langhian into the Early Langhian Age (Early Miocene) and Late Langhian Age (Middle Miocene).

2. The name of the corresponding European stage, which is roughly contemporaneous with the Relizian and lower Luisian (N. America), Clifdenian (New Zealand), and Balcombian (Australia). The stratotype is found between Cessole and Case dei Rossi, northern Italy.
