Mid-Atlantic Ridge
Mid-Atlantic Ridge Underwater topographic feature along the margin between the diverging American crustal plate on one side and the European and African plates on the other. It runs for 14,000km (8700mi) along the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Iceland is located on the ridge itself, and was formed by the outpourings of volcanic lava.

Mid-Atlantic Ridge The oceanic ridge which separates the North and South American Plates from the African and Eurasian Plates. It is a slow-spreading ridge, with rugged topography and a well-developed median valley.
