re·sorb / rēˈsôrb; -ˈzôrb/ • v. [tr.] technical absorb (something) again: the ability to resorb valuable solutes from the urine. ∎ Physiol. remove (cells, or a tissue or structure) by gradual breakdown into its component materials and dispersal in the circulation: bone tissue will be resorbed.

resorb To re-absorb; i.e. to metabolize (see METABOLISM; and metabolite) substances or structures that were produced metabolically by the body. For example, in some mammals foetuses are resorbed if they are not viable. See also POSTLARVA.
