Synodontidae
Synodontidae (lizardfish, grinner; superorder Scopelomorpha, order Myctophiformes) A family of marine fish that have a slightly depressed head, a large mouth with many fine teeth, and a single dorsal and an adipose fin opposite the anal fin. Lizardfish are found in shallow water, sometimes burying themselves in the sand. There are about 34 species, distributed world-wide.
