Made stage debut in Melbourne, Australia, in Timour the Tartar (1856) and London debut as Hermione in The Winter's Tale (1874); other plays include Jo, East Lynne, Elfinella, The Rocket, Dorothy Gray, Proof, Theodora, Sweet Lavender, The Two Orphans and Hearts are Trumps.
