Edmunds, Elizabeth M. (c. 1941–)

American nun, naval officer, and doctor. Name variations: Sister Elizabeth M. Edmunds. Born c. 1941, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania.

As member of the order of the Sisters of Mercy, was the 1st nun to be commissioned as a US Navy officer (lieutenant, 1973); interned (1975) and served as resident at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, OH (1976–78); established family-medicine practice in Reading, PA.
