Sutcliffe, Alice (c. 1600–?)

British devotional writer. Born c. 1600 in England; dau. of Luke Woodhouse of Kimberly, Suffolk (related to Sir Thomas Woodhouse, attendant in the court of James I); m. John Sutcliffe (court groom).

Wrote Meditations of Man's Mortalitie: Or, A Way to True Blessednesse (1634) not only as spiritual work but also, apparently, to promote family's position at court.
