Fitzwilliam, Fanny Elizabeth (1801–1854)
English actress. Born Fanny Elizabeth Copeland in Dover, England, in 1801; died in London on November 11, 1854; daughter of a theater manager; married Edward Fitzwilliam (an actor).
Fanny Elizabeth Fitzwilliam was a child actress in Dover, where her father managed a theater. In 1817, the 16-year-old Fanny appeared at the Haymarket. She performed at the Drury Lane (1821–22) and leased the Sadler's Wells in 1832. Fitzwilliam visited the United States in 1837, appearing to great acclaim in The Country Girl. On her return to England, at the height of her fame, she appeared in Green Bushes and Flowers of the Forest.
