Making the most of her zany, buck-toothed appearance, comedian Polly Moran began her career in vaudeville, then crossed over into films around 1913. She appeared in numerous silent shorts with Mack Sennett before returning to the stage in 1918. Moran reemerged in feature films again during the 1920s, playing comic character roles. Particularly notable are a series of films with intriguing single-word titles that she made with Marie Dressler during the early sound era, including Reducing, Politics (both in 1931), and Prosperity (1932).
