Negri, Vittorio
Negri, Vittorio, Italian conductor, record producer, and musicologist; b. Milan, Oct. 16, 1923; d. Blonay, April 11, 1998. He was educated at the Milan Cons., graduating with a degree in composition and conducting in 1946. He began his professional career at the Salzburg Mozarteum, working with Bernhard Paumgartner. Negri then served as a guest conductor of the Orch. del Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Orchestre National de France in Paris, the Dresden Staatskapelle, and the Boston Sym. Orch. He also made festival appearances in Salzburg, Montreux, Monte Carlo, and Versailles.
