Casabianca, Louis (1755–98), a Corsican naval officer who perished with his little son at the Battle of Aboukir Bay, an event commemorated in the poem Casabianca (1849) by Mrs Hemans, often referred to by its opening line, ‘The boy stood on the burning deck.’
