David, Léon
David, Léon , French tenor, father of Jose David; b. Sables-d’Olonne, Dec. 18, 1867; d. there, Oct. 27, 1962. He studied at the Nantes Cons, and later at the Paris Cons. He made his debut at the Opéra-Comique in Paris in 1892, appearing subsequently in Brussels, Monte Carlo, Marseilles, Bordeaux, Cairo, Lisbon, Bucharest, and other cities. From 1924 to 1938 he was a prof. of singing at the Paris Cons.
