Kahn, Robert
Kahn, Robert, German pianist and composer, brother of Otto Hermann Kahn; b. Mannheim, July 21, 1865; d. Biddenden, Kent, May 29, 1951. He studied music with Lachner in Mannheim and with Rheinberger in Munich. In 1885 he went to Berlin, and in 1890 moved to Leipzig, where he organized a Ladies’ Choral Union, which he conducted. In 1893 he was appointed instructor of piano at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik, retiring in 1931. After the advent of the Nazi government in Germany, he emigrated to England. He composed a considerable amount of respectable chamber music and choral works.
