Kahowez, Günter, Austrian composer; b. Vöckla-bruck, Dec. 4, 1940. He studied at the Bruckner Cons. in Linz and at the Vienna Academy of Music with Schiske. With neo-Classical precepts as points of departure, he rapidly progressed in the direction of modern serialism. Among his compositions were a Wind Quintet (1959), String Quartet (1960), Klangrhythmen for Piano (1962), Flachengitter for Flute (1962), Megalyse for Electronic Instruments (1962), Duale for Clarinet and Guitar (1963), Schichtungen for Orch. (1963), Ouverture & Pantomime for Orch. (1964), and Elementalichemie for Cello and Percussion (1975).
