Talbot, Michael (Owen)
Talbot, Michael (Owen), English musicologist; b. Luton, Jan. 4, 1943. He was educated at the Royal Coll. of Music in London and at Clare Coll., Cambridge (Mus.B., 1963; Ph.D., 1968). In 1968 he joined the faculty of the Univ. of Liverpool as a lecturer in music, subsequently serving there as senior lecturer (1979-83), reader (1983-86), and the James and Constance Alsop Prof, of Music (from 1986). His articles have appeared in various journals. He also publ, the studies Vivaldi (1978; 4th ed., rev, 1993), Albinoni: Leben und Werk (1980), Tomaso Albinoni: The Venetian Composer and His World (1990), Benedetto Vinaccesi: A Musician in Brescia and Venice in the Age of Gorelli (1994), The Sacred Vocal Music of Antonio Vivaldi (1995), and Venetian Music in the Age of Vivaldi (1999).
