Talbot (real name, Munkittrick), Howard
Talbot (real name, Munkittrick), Howard, English conductor and composer; b. Yonkers, N.Y., March 9, 1865; d. Reigate, Sept. 12, 1928. He was taken to England at the age of 4, and studied at the Royal Coll. of Music in London under Parry, Bridge, and Gladstone. From 1900 he was active as a conductor in various London theaters. He was a prolific composer of light operas. His greatest success was A Chinese Honeymoon (Hanley, Oct. 16, 1899), and his last work was TheDaughter of the Gods (1929). Other operettas included Monte Carlo (London, Aug. 27, 1896), 3 Little Maids (London, May 20, 1902), The Blue Moon (Northampton, Feb. 29, 1905), The White Chrysanthemum (London, Aug. 31, 1905), The Girl behind the Counter (London, April 21, 1906), The 3 Kisses (London, Aug. 21, 1907), The Belle of Brittany (London, Oct. 24, 1908), The Arcadians (London, April 28, 1909), A Narrow Squeak (London, June 6, 1913), The Pearl Girl (London, Sept. 25, 1913), A Lucky Miss (London, July 13, 1914), and The Light Blues (Birmingham, Sept. 13, 1915).
