AOSA Research Grants (All/Grant)
Purpose: To promote philosophy and encourage research in varied applications of Orff Schulwerk. Focus: Music; Education, Music. Qualif.: Applicants must be active and expert AOSA members. Criteria: Applicants are selected based on merits.
Funds Avail.: $100-$5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form and a project proposal and forward it to the AOSA Research Chair. Deadline: January 15 or July 15.
Remarks: The proposal (limited to 15 pages double spaced) must include an introduction and problem, related literature, procedure, bibliography and proposed budget.
AOSA Research Partnership Grants (All/Grant)
Purpose: To encourage joint research by music teachers and researchers. Focus: Music. Qualif.: Applicants must be groups consisting of one practicing music teacher (must be a member of the AOSA) of grades P-12 in a school setting and one faculty member with substantial research experience at a college or university. Criteria: Applicants are selected based on the panel's review of the application materials.
Funds Avail.: $800. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form; a proposal indicating the purpose, procedure, budget summary and timeline of the project. Deadline: January 15 and July 15.
Barbara Potter Scholarships (All/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to members of AOSA who wish to study at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or must have resided in the U.S. for the past five years; a must be member of AOSA; planning to study at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria; must have
completed Level III Orff Schulwerk Training; must demonstrate personal need of financial aid. Criteria: Applicants are selected based on the jury's review of application materials.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application and agreement form; resume; project description and 3 reference letters. Submit all requirements to the Office of the Executive Director. Deadline: January 25.
Shields-Gillespie Scholarships (All/Scholarship)
Purpose: To support special creative projects that are associated with Orff Schulwerk and that will benefit the music education of children. Focus: Music. Qualif.: Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or must have resided in the U.S. for the past five years; a current member of AOSA and must have been an AOSA member in good standing for one year; must be actively involved in teaching low-income preschool or kindergarten students; must have a strong motivation to study music; and demonstrated financial need. Criteria: Applicants are selected based on the jury's review of application materials.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit completed application and agreement form; resume; project description and 3 reference letters. Submit all requirements to the Office of the Executive Director. Deadline: January 25.
