BAFTX Early Starters Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To assist the students seeking financial resources for their education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be permanent residents of Texas; enrolled in full-time education; between 11 and 14 years old and must maintain a competitive GPA and hold an excellent school attendance record. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on financial need.
Funds Avail.: $500 up to $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit the completed application form; essay between 300 and 500 words regarding a British person (past or present) whom they admire; current transcript signed by a member of their teaching staff; letter of recommendation which must come from a teacher in whose class they were enrolled within the past year, or from a guidance counselor at their school (letter must be on school letterhead paper); and a recent photograph.
BAFTX Graduate Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to aspiring individuals from Great Britain or Texas, USA that are intent on furthering their education in their chosen field. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be permanent residents of Texas; enrolled in full time education; between 21 and 25 years old; must hold an undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.5 or above for U.S. applicants and 2:1 (65+) for U.K. applicants. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement and financial need.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit completed application form; essay, not less than 1,000 words, on one of the topics from the application form found at the website of BAFTX; current transcript of academic performance signed by a member of the teaching staff; letter of recommendation from a graduate or undergraduate professor in whose class they were enrolled or from a guidance counselor at their university (letter must be on university letterhead paper); financial statement declaring their eligibility for the program; budget outline stating the sum being requested for tuition fees and other costs associated with graduate tuition; and a recent photograph.
BAFTX Junior Achievers Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide a summer study program for academically adept students from low-income families in the Houston area. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be permanent residents of Texas; enrolled in full-time education; between 16 and 17 years old; and must maintain a competitive GPA and excellent school attendance record. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on financial need.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit completed application form; an essay between 500 and 750 words regarding a British person (past or present) whom they admire; current transcript of academic performance signed by a member of the teaching staff; letter of recommendation which must come from a teacher in whose class they were enrolled within the past year or from a guidance counselor at their school (letter must be on school letterhead); and a recent photograph.
BAFTX Undergraduate Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To alleviate the financial burden of college fees. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be permanent residents of Texas; enrolled in full time education; between 18 and 22 years old; and must maintain a GPA of 3.5. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on merit and financial need.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit an essay, not less than 1,000 words, on one of the topics given in the application form found at the website of BAFTX; a letter of recommendation which must come from a teacher in whose class they were enrolled within the past year or from a guidance counselor at their university (letter must be on university letterhead paper); current transcript of their academic performance signed by a member of the teaching staff; financial statement declaring their eligibility for the program; budget outline stating the sum being requested for tuition fees and other costs associated with their education for one semester; and a recent photograph.
