Baxter Corporation Canadian Research Awards in Anesthesia (Professional Development/Award/Prize)

Purpose: To support anesthesia-related research in Canada. Focus: Anesthesiology. Qualif.: Applicants must be associate/active members of CAS who propose to carry out an original project and are eligible for the New Investigator Awards. Criteria: Award winner is chosen based on the scientific merit, importance, and feasibility of the project.

Funds Avail.: $20,000. To Apply: Application forms are available online. Applicants must submit documentation of institutional approval of human and/or animal experimentation. Deadline: February 1.

Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society Research Awards (Professional Development/Award/Prize)

Purpose: To support anesthesia-related research in Canada. Focus: Anesthesiology. Purpose: To provide support for infrastructure costs related to a specific research project or program. Focus: Medical research. Qualif.: Nominees must be associate or active members of the society who are eligible for an award in the field of perioperative imaging related to anesthesia and/or critical care. Criteria: Award winner is chosen based on the scientific merit, importance, and feasibility of the project.

Funds Avail.: $40,000. To Apply: Application forms are available online. Applicants must submit documentation of institutional approval of human and or animal experimentation. Deadline: February 1.

CAS/Vitaid-LMA Residents' Research Grant Competition (Professional Development/Award/Prize)

Purpose: To support anesthesia-related research performed by a resident in Canada. Focus: Anesthesiology. Qualif.: Nominees must be resident physicians who are in good standing at a Canadian university department of anesthesia. Nominees must be members of the CAS and must propose to carry out an original project within Canada. Criteria: Award winner is chosen based on the scientific merit, importance, and feasibility of the project.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Application forms are available online. Applicants must submit documentation of institutional approval of human and/or animal experimentation. Deadline: February 1.

Frank Newman Leadership Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support to students pursuing college. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be undergraduate students at Campus Compact member colleges and universities. Criteria: Awards are given based on financial need and leadership.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. Number Awarded: 2. To Apply: Applicants must complete the online application form. Prepare a student-written essay; letter of nomination from applicant's president/chancellor; mentoring plan; and a recent head-and-shoulder photo. Contact: awards2008@ compact.org.

Novo Nordisk Canada-CAS Research Awards (Professional Development/Award/Prize)

Purpose: To support infrastructure costs related to a specific research project or program. Focus: Medical research.
