John Peter Humphrey Student Fellowships (Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To inspire educational achievement by providing support for outstanding students pursuing graduate studies at leading graduate institutions in Canada or worldwide. Focus: Political science; Law. Qualif.: Applicants must be students of Canadian law and political science (or their equivalent) faculties. Criteria: Selection committee appointed by the President of the CCIL will review the applications and base its determination on the applicant's academic accomplishments, proposed program of study, letter of reference, and other information contained in the application.

Funds Avail.: CDN$25,000 for tuition plus a stipend of CDN$10,000 for living expenses. To Apply: Applicants must submit the official transcript from each post-secondary academic institution, three letters of reference which speak both of the candidate's academic strengths and weaknesses and his/her likelihood of success in a programme of graduate studies. Complete application package must be submitted to: John Peters Humphrey Fellowship, c/o Canadian Council on International Law, 215-236 Metcalfe St., Ottawa, ON, K2P 1R3. Deadline: November 15.

Dick Martin Scholarships (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage students to continue their career in occupational health and safety. Focus: Occupational safety and health. Qualif.: Applicants must be students who are enrolled, either full-time or part-time, in an occupational health and safety related course or program. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on knowledge of the subject matter, understanding of the principles and values of Dick Martin, and understanding of the role of CCOHS.

Funds Avail.: $3,000. To Apply: Applicants must contact CCOHS at 800263-8466 for further information. Deadline: January 31.
