Beef Industry Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To identify and encourage talented and thoughtful students who will emerge as industry leaders. Focus: Agricultural sciences. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or full-time undergraduate student enrolled at a two or four-year institution and have demonstrated commitment to a career in the beef industry through classes, internships or life experiences. Criteria: Awards are given based on the essay, which is judged based on originality, grammar, clarity of expression, accuracy, relevance of topic and the solutions offered.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. Number Awarded: 10. To Apply: Applicants must submit proof of enrollment (as a full-time student); a one page letter of career goals; the essay (maximum of 750 words); and two letters of reference. Deadline: October 1.

W.D. Farr Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote education in the animal industry. Focus: Animal science and behavior. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduate student. Criteria: Awards are given based on the application.

Funds Avail.: $12,000. Number Awarded: 2. To Apply: Applicants must contact the NCF for more information about the program.

Remarks: Honors the life’s work of the late W.D. Farr of Greeley, Colorado.

Fred Johnson Memorial Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote education in the animal industry. Focus: Animal science and behavior; Genetics. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Master’s or Ph.D. student studying meat animal science or genetics. Criteria: Awards are given based on the application.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must contact the NCF for more information about the program.

NCF Fort Dodge Animal Health Legacy Scholarships for Undergraduate Students (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote study in animal science with an emphasis in bovine practice. Focus: Animal science and behavior. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen; an undergraduate junior or senior enrolled at a two-or four-year institution of higher learning; have demonstrated commitment to a career in the beef industry through classes, internships or life experience. Criteria: Applicants will be judged on effective communication skills, clarity of expression, originality and interest/passion for the cattle industry.

Funds Avail.: $5,000 each. Number Awarded: 2. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application form together with the essay and two letters of recommendation. Deadline: April 30. Remarks: In partnership with Fort Dodge Animal Health.

NCF Fort Dodge Animal Health Legacy Scholarships for Veterinary Students (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To promote veterinary study and encourage bovine practice. Focus: Veterinary science and medicine. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, and a veterinary student with an emphasis in bovine practice. Criteria: Applicants will be judged on effective communication skills, clarity of expression, originality and interest/passion for the cattle industry.

Funds Avail.: $5,000 each. Number Awarded: 3. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application form together with the essay and two letters of recommendation. Deadline: April 30. Remarks: In partnership with Fort Dodge Animal Health.
