ADRAGNA, ANTONIO MARIA

Theologian; b. Trapani, Sicily, Oct. 1, 1818; d. Rome, Oct. 14, 1890. He entered the Conventual Franciscans in 1834 and was ordained in 1841. He taught in Würzburg and Assisi, was named consultor of the Holy Office in 1861, and member of the dogmatic commission for Vatican Council I in 1866. Adragna was given the task of preparing a schema on the temporalities of the Church for the council. From 1872 to 1879 he was minister general of his order. As a result of the religious suppressions in Rome he was forced to live in Holland (187678). None of his works have been published and many have been lost. He was generally considered a conservative in his theology.
