La Rosa Parodi, Armando
La Rosa Parodi, Armando, Italian conductor and composer; b. Genoa, March 14, 1904; d. Rome, Jan. 21, 1977. He studied in Genoa and Milan. He began his career as a conductor in 1929, and was active as a guest conductor in Genoa, Milan, Turin, and Rome. In 1963 he was named chief conductor of the RAI Orch. of Rome, a post he held until his death. He composed the operas Il Mercante e l’avvocato (1934) and Cleopatra (1938), and several symphonic works.
