La Rotella, Pasquale
La Rotella, Pasquale, Italian composer and conductor; b. Bitonto, Feb. 26, 1880; d. Bari, March 20, 1963. He studied in Naples. He was choirmaster at Bari Cathedral (1902–13) and also taught at the Liceo Musicale there (1934–9); toured Italy as an opera conductor. His works included the operas Ivan (Bari, Jan. 20, 1900), Dea (Bari, April 11, 1903), Fasma (Milan, Nov. 28, 1908), Corsaresca (Rome, Nov. 13, 1933), and Manuela (Nice, March 4, 1948), and much sacred music.
